David Bailey’s Stardust exhibition at PAC
A kind of tribute to one of the world greatest living photographer. The exhibition Stardust, dedicated to David Bailey, will open from 1 March to 2 June at PAC in Milan.
The show will offer to the public, through an original point of view, over 300 among the best Bailey’s photographs, capturing celebrities as well as anonymous people, with his unique touch.
Among the subjects of the images Johnny Deep, Kate Moss, the Beatles, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, the Rolling Stones, up to Salvador Dalì and Andy Warhol; a selection that covers over 50 years of one of the most iconic artist’s work. During his long career, David Bailey, born in London in 1938, has beautifully captured the English capital’ s atmosphere of the 60s, creating a new generation of stars.
The exhibition, personally curated by Bailey in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery of London, and sponsored by the City of Milan Cultural Department and Tod’s, features an extraordinary range of photographs, personally selected and printed by the artist, the most significant images of his career. Bailey’s Stardust is presented thematically across a series of contrasting rooms, illustrating different genres, from fashion photography to still lives, up to Travel photography.
The exhibition catalogue, edited for Italy by Skira Editore, includes an essay by Tim Marlow, English art historian and director of the London’s Royal Academy. To promote the artist’s work among public, PAC has organized a program of free guided tours, every Sunday starting from 6 pm, prior exhibition ticket purchase.
