Salvatore Ferragamo: 100 years in Hollywood
Salvatore Ferragamo is one of the most prestigious Italian brand, so appreciated in Hollywood to be homaged with wooden footprints – fashionable tokens of recognition still guarded in the House’s archives today – of divine stars Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich and Ingrid Bergman, to name a few. Salvatore Ferragamo who was also affectionately nicknamed “the dream shoemaker” during his lifetime, and the brand named after him, celebrates his “100 years in Hollywood” milestone with a colorful capsule collection, in collaboration with Colombian designer Edgardo Osorio. With twelve models -developed in four fashion lines- the Edgardo Osorio for Salvatore Ferragamo collection produce a playful vibe in looking at the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s -Ferragamo’s iconic years, introducing a contemporary twist for the famous Rainbow platform. Originally with upper in polka dots and winged sandals, now it is revisited in colors, details and materials for its second life in the shoe fashion industry.
“Our collection perfectly highlights Salvatore Ferragamo true spirit: ironic and cheerful, carefully detailed but also extremely creative in rendering very comfortable and luxurious shoes”, says Massimiliano Giornetti, the Maison artistic director.
