The owner is Elisabetta Gnudi, who bought the estate in 1997 and turned it into a luxury hotel, which was even chosen by director Gary Winick for the movie “Letters to Juliet”, with Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero. The Borgo Scopeto has been beautifully restored – work has lasted for 5 years – with the specific aim of bringing back the original 14th century charm.
The hotel has 58 elegant rooms in 14th century style and are all different from each other. Some have an independent entrance and overlook the gardens. Others have stunning views of Siena’s countryside or of the charming little village, and make guests feel they have stepped back into the Middle Ages. Same Sienese style has the “La Tinaia” restaurant, where each detail contributes to create a romantic atmosphere with a menu of genuine local and regional flavors.
