Infiniti Q60 shows its muscles
With plenty of muscles and personality, Infiniti is ready to challenge the German rivals. Presented at the last Geneva Motor Show, the new Infiniti Q60 sport coupe, from Nissan luxury vehicle division, sports impressive lines and an even more impressive twin-turbo V6 engine of 405 horsepower. To keep the new coupe in good company, Infiniti added the compact crossover QX30, true to the Infiniti “Powerful Elegance” approach with its highly sculpted lines, elevated drive position and cabin asymmetry. Both models are joined by the refreshed Q50 sports saloon, which features significant performance and dynamic upgrades that deliver a more empowering and rewarding drive experience.
Star of the show, the Q60 is infused with dynamic power and conveys the concept immediately. The 3.0 V6 twin-turbo engine is the new entry in the “VR” powertrain family and the result of a long study by the brand. In fact, the high-powered 400 hp V6 engine provides the car with one of the best power-to-efficiency ratings in the sports coupe class. A four-cylinder 2.0-liter gasoline engine turbocharged to produce 211 horsepower, is also available in the Q60. The coupe lines and dimension – 468 cm long, 185cm large and 139cm tall – made for a strong visual impact, as in love at first sight. This coupe sports 19” and 20 “ wheel rims and an Active Grille Shutter to balance the engine’s cooling requirements.
Inside, the Q60 is fitted with a 13-speaker Bose system, tailored to the acoustics of the cabin. The Intuition infotainment system allows occupants to personalize temperature, seating positions, audio-visual settings, navigation and more, while the Active Noise Cancellation efficiently provide acoustic isolation in the cabin. Challenging the European car segment market – difficult compared the North American one for the brand – the new Q60 will have to compete with Audi A5, BMW 4 and Mercedes C Coupes, all giants in the sector. Arriving earlier on the American market, the new models will be available in Europe at the end of 2016.
The European launch aim is to promote Infiniti growth, already on record in Europe for the selling of 215.250 new vehicles in 2015, a whooping 45% sales increase compared to 2014.
