Discover the other Italy, the photo exhibition lands in EMIRATES
From Shanghai to Milan and return. Shanghai is the first foreign city to host Discover the Other Italy, the photo exhibition realized by Lorenza Scalisi’s ScalEasy Communication studio, a unique event that combines the patronage of Expo Milano 2015, ENIT (the Italian National Tourism Agency and FAI (the National Trust for Italian Heritage). Its goal is to shed light on the parts of Italy yet to be discovered with 210 images (ten from each region plus ten from Milan) taken ??by 21 photographers selected from hundreds of applicants.
The project is a campaign to promote the country that is based on the concept of ” System Italy “, connecting the individual destinations represented by the regional capital and the same in Milan-Expo Milano 2015. From this idea the GeoExhibition was created, enabling visitors to easily construct dozens of visual itineraries, which can then become real ideas for travel.
The Discover tour began in the summer of 2014, with the launch last August of the national preview at the Art Port Gallery in Sardinia’s Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. From November to January the exhibition was on display at the seat of the regional government, Palazzo Regione Lombardia. To emphasize the link with the Universal Exposition and its themes, Discover has partnered with Eataly, the group of food stores dedicated to the Italian culinary excellence, which since last October, has displayed parts of the exhibition in its Milan, Turin and Rome locations.
The one and only foreign contributor of Discover, speaking 100% Italian, is Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil, who will be in Milan for the 6 months of Expo, with a special format of the famous show. In 2009, he presented “Gaia”, his collection of stunning images of the Earth seen from the Space, which includes two pics of Sicily and Etna. The photos are on sale to support research in water sources in arid areas of the globe: an art project and a real help to environment, in perfect harmony with the themes of Expo 2015, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. In June 2, Discover has the honor to be the event in ‘the event’ at the St. Regis Corniche of Abu Dhabi, to celebrate the Italian Republic Day, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates. In June 3, the exhibition will move to the Nation Towers (until June 30), iconic skyscraper of the Emirate.
